Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival presents
MORE LATIN DRAMA THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE
In 2002, it was Matt LeBlanc in All the Queen's Men; in 2003 it was Macaulay Culkin in Party Monster; now in 2004, Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival's annual major fall fundraiser features former Calvin Klein underwear supermodel Antonio Sabato Jr. in his super-potent new gay film appropriately entitled Testosterone.
This special evening is made up of an advance preview screening at the Shores Performing Arts Theater followed by a private house party in a waterfront home on Dilido Island with more latin drama lined up then you can possibly imagine!
As a special guest of MGLFF, Antonio Sabato Jr. will attend both the screening and the party and answer questions about the film - don't miss this special opportunity to meet THE male supermodel in person! All proceeds from this event go directly toward production of the 7th annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, scheduled for Miami & Ft. Lauderdale from April 22 - May 1, 2005.
THE FILM
Testosterone is about an obsessive love affair. Dean Seagrave (David Sutcliffe, from the ABC sitcom "I'm With Her"), a brilliant graphic novelist with writer`s block, hasn't been himself lately. Not long ago his sex-bomb Argentine lover Pablo (Antonio Sabato, Jr.) left their California beach house on a cigarette run, and has completely disappeared - apparently to Buenos Aires, where his powerful Argentine political family still has a great deal of influence.
Unable to work, sleep or even drag a razor across his face, Dean begins to become unhinged - to the point where he inappropriately confronts Pablo's mother (the stunning Brazilian spider woman Sonia Braga, still a sex bomb at age 54) at an art gallery opening, embarrasing the pants off his no-holds-barred editor (the hysterically funny, scene-stealing Jennifer Coolidge). Dean shoots off to Buenos Aires in search of truth, vengeance, even closure, but gets more and more entangled in a web of deception, sex and drama - with an impossibly beautiful nymphomaniac Ritz Hotel bellboy Guillermo, a beautiful cafe owner Sofia (Celina Font) who seems to only speak in lies and half-truths, to her dangerously unstable brother (Leonardo Brzezicki), Pablo's former lover who will do whatever it takes to bed Dean before he finds Pablo again.
This hysterical film noir, with a plot more ornate than the Buenos Aires architecture (Testosterone was filmed entirely on location in Argentina), jumbles up the lines between art and life, resolution and revenge, man and maniac. "Dean might be crazy," says director David Moreton, who directed past MGLFF favorite Edge of Seventeen. "Or everyone might be lying. Either way, Dean has a machete - because the chainsaw was too loud - and he?s just found Pablo."
Star Antonio Sabato Jr., will introduce the special Oct. 16th benefit screening at 7:30pm at the Shores Performing Arts Theater, and stay for a question & answer session with the audience following the movie!
Advance tickets for the GALA FILM presentation of Testosterone at the Shores Performing Arts Theater are $25 or $20 for current MGLFF members, and can be purchased from the MGLFF box office at 305-534-9924 or on-line through www.MGLFF.com with Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Tickets at the door, pending availability, will be $25 general admission cash-only.
Only 60 tickets will be sold for an exclusive VIP Testosterone After-Party at a dramatic private watefront home on Dilido Island.
Get an opportunity for a more intimate gathering with Antonio Sabato Jr. and enjoy entertainment with a distinctly Argentine flair - re-live your favorite moments from Testosterone live and in person! Produced by Roberto Ferreira of Ferre, Inc., the man behind our acclaimed 2004 MGLFF Opening Night "Straight-Jacket" Gala party at the historic Alfred I. Dupont Building this past April, and with stylish culinary and beverage presentations by the incredible Bruce Barbaree of Elements Event Couture, this will be one memorable kick-off to the MGLFF fall and winter season!
And Carol Coombes, Program Director for MGLFF, has this special note for our lesbian audience: "For a film entitled Testosterone, it's surprising that the fiesty, ballsy women characters nearly steal the show.
Jennifer Coolidge from Legally Blonde is FIERCE, and Sonia Braga and Celina Font are sensational on screen. Don't miss it!"
