spec-ta-cle two channel video, 2004, looped
By Wendy Babcox
This two channel video installation combines imagery of female tourist attractions, and of men who frequent video chat rooms. The subjects of each channel are required/choose to make a spectacle of themselves for an audience. Video footage of the tourist attractions was transmitted into the chat rooms, and the male subjects were asked to blow a kiss to the camera as a sign of gratitude for the entertainment.

TREEART
Fall Impression & A Sample Of Winter videoart, looped
By Roz Schneider
Fall Illusion explores landscape and water as a meditative abstraction. Most of the original footage was shot in negative, producing unusual color that transformed reality into a visionary experience. The transformation is further realized through digital layering. Water enters the landscape and progresses until it becomes the only image reflecting upon itself.
A Sample Of Winter is focused on the translation of a historic landscape into a new visual form. The starkness of the winter landscape, filled with linear patterning is transformed by video layers of transparency. These layered mediations redefine the landscape into a poetic reverie.
"My work investigates nature as a transformed reality. I restructure images through digital manipulation, including layered transparency and reordered time. My work speaks to a painting philosophy that is reformed into moving image media. I exhibit large-scale projected installations and smaller scale works seen as Video Painting."

Jonathan + David
3 screen film 15min, and photography exhibition
By Jan Wandrag
David + Jonathan is set in modern New York. After David defeats Goliath the King takes an interest in him. David quickly develops a relationship with Jonathan the King's son. When the King finds out about their relationship he forbids Jonathan to ever see David again. David and Jonathan secretly meet one last time
The MBC Exhibition of Photography is also the work of Jan Wandrag:
The Visual Building Blocks of the project are a series of still photographs that have undergone considerable manipulation. The images began as video shot on the street, in public spaces around the world, of young men who are unaware of the camera. Wandrag then chose poses or faces from the footage that would fit into the scene he was about to create. He then transferred selected frames (portraits) from video to his computer. Next, in Photoshop he composed fictional scenes from these images found in 'reality,' by placing the found 'actors' into new locations. A visually distressed texture for the final images was achieved through a re-photographing process.

The Panty Scene performance with video
(SHOWTIMES: 9pm, 9:40pm, 10:20pm, 11pm)
By Heather Maloney with collaboration by Vivian Marthell
Inkub8: an open share collective presents an excerpt from Falling UP featuring the intense emotional choreography of Heather Maloney as she ventures through an autobiographical reality steeped in recollection and hopeful expectation. Heather is joined by Vivian Marthell in this creative venture. "The Panty Scene" is a vignette of self-discovery taking the viewer into an intimate journey of childhood innocence, exploitation and healing.
"In the dark place there is an overwhelming feeling of abandonment. In the end, during the months of deflowering the emotional pictures are just me looking out alone. Smelling the room, planning each move carefully so that the invasions happen in the shortest increments possible. I don't remember much except interludes of looking out and thinking to myself after I escape this I am going to have allot of work to do to make things ok again. There was that innocent real part of me that said as much as the landscape of body was pillaged what was really important couldn't be taken away."

Disposable
film made with disposable cameras. Devised and shot in 24 hours.
By Jo Gell & Robyn Patterson
The vast, arid emptiness of the Nevada desert provides a dramatic setting for this new-media film. Filmed entirely on disposable (single-use) cameras, the narrative follows two lesbian travelers as they engage in a fleeting romance along the road to Las Vegas. 'Disposable' is both the theme and title of this innovative short - exploring the fast-turnaround nature of Western culture, using one of the latest products to stem from it.
"Disposable" is a film both of us have been passionate about from the beginning. We're excited about the use of this new media in particular. To our knowledge, this is the first time single-use video cameras have been used in the making of a narrative film. Our motivation comes from a strong desire to push the boundaries of new technology, and reflectively use it to comment on an aspect of our culture that interests us - waste, refuse, and both physical and metaphorical disposability."

By Vladimir Banjanac
What is more "way out" than a floating orange?
hovering mysteriously over Española Way's Andalusian sky, above the Tylenol sleepy boys and girls, and winking, like the George Melies Voyage dans le Lune?
The work of Vladimir Banjanac portrays this eclectic and romantic mix with a Serbian slant, a focus of the rich colors of the sleep inducing poppies in The Wizard Of Oz, and of relationships
and the absurdity of living and loving in Miami Beach. Welcome to WayOUT!

Way Out On A Limb 16mm 1min. loops
By Clifton Childree and Nikki Rollason
Way Out on a Limb uses two 16mm projections onto trees that straddle Española Way. One projection is of the heads of a barbershop quartet filling out the shape of what seems to be
.a phallic symbol? The quartet faces correspond with the actions of the symbol as it seems to move in excitement. Finally, an explosive fountain of musical notes bursts forth from the lead singer in celebration. Meanwhile, an old couple is gawking and is thoroughly offended by both what they see and anyone who happens to pass under the tree. The faces of the couple fade and shift, along with their hostility, as their genders change. The couple is sparked by the surrounding enthusiasm, and find a new attraction for each other.

The Mirror Makes No Sense: A One Man Journey performance and video projection
By Mark Angelo Cummings
In the face of hostile, even violent, opposition to their plight, members of the transgender community not only struggle with inner conflict, they also suffer isolation and persecution. Mark Angelo Cummings has been through the fire and has emerged a new man. He shares his inspiring story through his, artistic ecliptic approach of poetry, drama and comedy performance which touches his audiences' deepest hidden emotions. The Mirror Makes No Sense traces his journey, from a humorous, hypothetical scenario fresh from the womb to the life-altering decisions he has had to make in later years.
"It is a tool to point us in the right direction [so that we can] learn how to be more loving and unconditional, which is something we all need in a world full of death, hate and judgment. I welcome you to the mirror, I challenge you to look at your reflection and see if it makes sense."

The Kiss short film 8 min. on multi-dvd players
By Lamia Endara
This video is about the passion and essence of a kiss. Stripped bare of anything extraneous, the focus is on the mouths that fill the frame. Extremely sensual and intimate, the video portrays two mouths engaged in the act of "The Kiss". The piece is gender ambiguous in the sense that one might not be able to easily identify the gender of the subjects. The focus is on the lips and the act of kissing. It engages the viewer on a very intimate level. The video stands out as a piece that defies the politics of social categorization and gender preference by presenting the essence, the passion, and the drive of "The Kiss" regardless of who's doing the kissing.

An erotic/political series of female/lesbian images, but leads into Hammer's later use of the confluence of mixed media in her films.
"Feminist filmmaker Barbara Hammer has celebrated her recent trip to Peru with her friend Corky Wick through a diaristic animation of photographs they took during their travels. Landscapes and portraits are given growing patterns of framing and texture with magic markers and tempera paint, expressing the richly evocative folk art of the Incan people they saw as we hear their native music resonate on the soundtrack."

"I love to titillate the creative unconscious. I include celluloid in my pieces because I am preoccupied with the single frame and its immense power of subliminal manipulation. My work pursues visceral reactions to motion, light, texture, rhythm, gesture and semiotics. I believe in the ability of cinematic language to affect different levels of consciousness and alter the viewer's thought process."

STRINGS #8 video projections on linen
By Juan Carlos Zaldívar
"STRINGS" is a series of silent video projections on linen panels projected silently onto tightly-woven linen panels. Zaldívar has chosen to project doorways, which open and close at random, to evoke the enticing and exciting new possibilities lying beyond our present understanding of time, space and light.
With "Strings" Mr. Zaldívar alludes to the controversial new theory of modern physics, the Super String Theory, also known as string theory. String theory challenges the notion that our universe is made up of tiny solid particles, instead, it claims that it is made up of minuscule loops of energy, some of which vibrate in ways that give them their "solid" properties. The theory is controversial in that it opens up scientific explanations of 11 different dimensions as well as mathematical theories that would explain alternate worlds and realities, challenging our core understanding of the world as we know it.

"I find myself intrigued by the inner child's perspective of adult content and the adult's perspective of childish subject matter. Visually fascinated with the kaleidoscope toy; the peaking series explores layers of visual poetry and pure aesthetics utilizing the male form and homosexuality in photography and video. The title of the show is used to metaphorically reference how the viewer may feel while experiencing the artwork. Zenith is the position when the observer is at the highest point or state of mind at the peak of the trip. Peaking can allude to the effects while under the psychedelic substance Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD)
Allured yet repelled, the viewer may find him or herself in limbo attempting to integrate a loss of innocence and naïveté."
