Who will be the next artist to represent the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival? The Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival has opened a competition for all artists to have their work become the Official Image of the 5th annual Festival, April 25 - May 4, 2003. The Official Image represents the Festival on all branding items, including - but not necessarily limited to - the Festival poster, website, cover of the Festival program book and ticket brochure, the Festival t-shirt, Festival invitations, newsletters, and the Festival national and local advertising campaigns. The winning entry will be the one that in the eyes of the Festival best portrays the three major themes of MGLFF: (1) the Latin/Tropical/Miami locale, (2) the advancing art of cinema, and (3) the continually emerging gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered community. Specs: A complete proposal should ideally include either a drawing or similar rendition of the proposed idea, a photograph or copy of the finished artwork (original artwork is not accepted), an artist's statement on his/her submission and its relevance to the 5th annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, and an artist's biography. The proposed image must be in full color but should also be translatable into black & white print. The Festival logo, as found on the main page of our website at www.mglff.com will be incorporated into the final image at the discretion of the Festival. Rights: The artist will allow the Festival full and exclusive use of the image before and throughout the Festival and in perpetuity for all promotional activities. The artist will retain all rights as well as the original artwork, unless they choose to donate it to the Festival. Compensation: The value of the usage of the image will be agreed upon between the artist and the Festival and will be compensated with a personal sponsorship package commensurate to the value of the donation. A breakdown of the Festival's sponsorship packages can be mailed or faxed to you upon request by calling the Festival office at 305.534.9924. Exposure: In 2002, the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival attracted over 13,000 attendees in a 10-day period. The use of the image will provide wide regional, national and international exposure for the artist selected for approximately a 4 month period, from late January to early May 2002. Submissions: The deadline for submissions is Monday, December 16th, 2002. Submissions may be made electronically, by mail or in person. Contact Info: Please contact Jaie Laplante, Festival Manager, for more information and/or for submissions: jaie@mglff.com, 305.534.9924, mailing address: 1521 Alton Rd. #147, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
