For four months each year – November to February – the MGLFF program committee meets to view, collectively screen and discuss the selection of new LGBT films to be invited to exhibit in the 10-day festival event. Assisted by audience ballots, which tellingly reveal your likes and dislikes, the MGLFF programming committee selects a mix of feature length fiction films and documentaries, smart new shorts, art-house European films, polished US independents and of course, Spanish language titles. But why do some films naturally find themselves in Gala slots over others? How does the Committee decide which films should play in Fort Lauderdale over Miami and vice versa? What decisions are made to offer tributes, decide on panels and identify annual themes in any given year’s line-up? Join moderator Joe Bilancio
(Programs Manager. One In Ten/Reel Affirmations – Washington DC LGBT Film Festival) and members of the MGLFF 2006 program committee:
Carol Coombes (Committee Chair, MGLFF Program Director),
Jaie Laplante (MGLFF Director of Festival Operations),
Saundra Grace (Writer, Historian, MGLFF Executive Board member),
Eric Freedman (Video Artist, and Associate Professor of Multimedia Studies at Florida Atlantic University)
Fran Levey ( Executive Producer, Rimon Productions) and
