Highlight This Year's
Fourth Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

From a sexy Sweet Thing soirée for women, to a glam drag show at the Delano, to a leisurely "ladies lunch," to pumping dance parties at some of South Beach's hottest clubs, guests at the Fourth Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival will have ample opportunities to get to know each other, as well as the guest filmmakers, producers and actors, a little bit better, at a juicy array of special events throughout the 10-day Festival.

"The whole point of a film festival is to create a cultural dialogue in the community," said Festival Director Robert Rosenberg. "But you can't get people talking about the films and the issues they raise if they're sitting in their seats the whole time. That's why we're providing such a wide array of social events, from refined cocktail parties to high-energy club events."

The Three Showcase Parties include:

  • Opening Night Reception & VIP Dinner
    Friday, April 26, at 6pm & 9:30pm
    Pre-screening reception at Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, 174 East Flagler Street, in downtown Miami, with wine and champagne courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits of South Florida and a sampling of delicious food. Following the screening is the VIP dinner party with opening night film Sagitario director Vicente Molina Foix and star Eusebio Poncela and other special guests at the beautiful InterContinental Hotel, 100 Chopin Way (off Biscayne Boulevard), in downtown Miami, where sophisticated company, gorgeous bayfront views, the Latin fusion dance music of the LeSpam Allstars, delicious food from the hotel's exceptional catering staff and libations compliments of Southern Wine & Spirits come together for a charmed South Florida evening.
        Tickets: $150 Gala ticket includes reception, film screening and VIP dinner; a $50 ticket includes reception and film screening; and the $25 ticket includes the film screening only.

    Festival Centerpiece Reception, Tuesday, April 30, at 9:30pm

  • Following the Festival Centerpiece film The Cockettes, is the Festival Center-piece party at the elegant Delano Hotel, 1685 Collins Ave., in Miami Beach, where you can join special guests for a wonderful evening with fabulous drag queen entertainment, hors d'oeuvres, drinks courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits and a special Martini Night, compliments of Absolut. Let us "drag" you out for a night fit for a bunch of queens. Hosted by Festival Honorary Board members.
        Tickets are: $30 for film screening and Centerpiece party at the Delano; $20 for film screening only.

    Closing Night Festival Awards Party, Sunday, May 5, at 10pm

  • Following the Festival's Closing Night film The Trip, which screens at 7:30pm at the Gusman, will be the Festival Awards Party at the swank and beautiful Miami City Club, 200 South Biscayne Blvd., only a few blocks from the Gusman Center. With fabulous 55th-floor panoramic views of the entire county, this promises to be our classiest and most fantastic closing night event. Enjoy the wonderful, international cuisine of the City Club's own in-house chefs and cocktails courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits, as we end 10 film-filled days and nights. Come celebrate with Festival film directors and other special guests as we announce the 4th Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival Awards.
        Tickets are: $50 for film screening and Festival Awards Party; $25 ticket for film screening only.

    Sweet Thing Party, Saturday, April 27, at 11:30pm

  • Don't miss the Festival's Sweet Thing party, where you can bring your own "sweet thing," or come and meet one at our hot women's dance party. A night of great music, hot go-go girls and a few hundred beautiful women at one of South Beach's most exciting clubs, Red, 737 Washington Ave. VIP lounge drinks courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits.
        Tickets are $25, which includes party and the 9:30pm screening of Sugar Sweet.

    The Ladies Who Lunch, Sunday, April 28, at 1pm

  • Make a day of it with The Ladies Who Lunch, including two great lesbian film programs and a wonderful lunch in between the 11am (Hand on the Pulse) and 3pm (Lifetime Guarantee) screenings. Join our hosts Lynn Bové, Arlene de la Torre, Saundra Grace, Fran Levey & Alice Miller, and Carol White at Segafredo, 1040 Lincoln Road, adjacent to the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach, for a light Italian lunch. Chat about the films with audience members, filmmaker Joyce Warshow, writer Joan Nestle and other guests, with wine and champagne, courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits, and Laurant Perrier Champagne and Robert Mondavi wines.
        Tickets are $30 and include 11am screening of Hand on the Pulse, 1pm lunch at Segafredo and 3pm screening of Lifetime Guarantee.

    Crobar VIP Party, Sunday, April 28, at 11pm

  • Come wrap up the Festival's first weekend at Crobar, 1445 Washington Ave., in Miami Beach, at the Crobar VIP Party featuring hot boys, dancing and a Festival VIP open bar from 11pm-1am.
        Tickets are $25 and include either the 8pm screening of Lan Yu or the 10pm screening of Vagón fumador and Crobar VIP entrance.

    Festival Club, Monday, April 29, 11pm o Even though it's Monday night, there are still plenty of reasons to celebrate and rub shoulders with other audience members and visiting Festival film directors at the Festival Club. Join us at the newest South Beach neighborhood bar, Frankie and Johnny, 1766 Bay Rd. (one block from Sunset Harbour Drive), for some dancing, cocktails and good aprés screening conversation.
        No admission charge for Festival Club; 2-for-1 drinks with your Festival ticket stub.

    Festival Club, Wednesday, May 1, 10pm

  • Wednesday night is here, and it's another just another opportunity to hob knob with other Festival attendees at the Festival Club at the trendy and hip Hotel Nash, 1120 Collins Ave., in Miami Beach. After the films, come and enjoy this evening's Festival Club.
        No admission charge for Festival Club.

    Reel Women Reception, Thursday, May 2, 9pm

  • Tonight we honor this year's women directors with the Reel Women Reception at Il Sole's beautiful courtyard location, 626 Lincoln Road, in Miami Beach. Join Catherine Crouch, Lauren Himmel, Jamie Babbitt, Andrea Sperling and other surprise guests for a sophisticated, intimate evening of conversation and drinks courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits.
        Tickets are $20 and include party at Il Sole and 7pm screening of treading water.

    Circuit Party, Friday, May 3, 9:30pm

  • After the South Florida premiere of the hot new film Circuit, come celebrate with Director Dirk Shafer (former Playgirl Man of the Year) and other special guests on the dance floor for the Circuit Party at Level, one of South Beach's hottest clubs. VIP lounge for Festival guests with drinks courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits.
        Tickets are $25 and include the 9:30pm screening of Circuit and VIP entrance.

    PlanetOut.com Short Movie Awards Reception, Saturday, May 4, 5pm

  • Join sponsors PlanetOut.com and HBO as we celebrate the best of this year's short films at the Britto Gallery, 818 Lincoln Rd., in Miami Beach for the PlanetOut.com Short Movie Awards Reception featuring wine and champagne, courtesy Southern Wine & Spirits.
        Tickets are $11 and include screening and awards ceremony at the Colony Theatre, and post-screening reception at the Britto Gallery.
