Lesbian-themed filmmaking is definitively global at this year's Festival. From Japan comes two not-to-be-missed films, Love/Juice and Sugar Sweet (followed by the hot Sweet Thing Saturday night women's dance party). Don't let those subtitles put you off - these are sexy, contemporary films that will appeal to Miami girls without a doubt.

Then there are two films that are female takes on cinema classics. The first, Journey to Kafiristan, is a German/Swiss/Dutch co-production (we are everywhere) that is a kind of lesbian-tinged English Patient, a beautiful and hypnotic film. The second, the sexy Guardian of the Frontier, comes from Slovenia and has echoes of that all-male adventure story Deliverance, but with women in the lead. And there is the made-in-the-U.S.A Treading Water, preceded by the Reel Women Make Movies panel and followed by the Reel Women Reception.

from Metrosexuality
Of course we have a whole range of lesbian documentaries and shorts that are not to be missed either. Ruthie and Connie, Hand on the Pulse, and Losing Lois all profile heroines in our community (don't miss the Heroines, Heroes and History Panel on this very subject). As part of our unique Sunday morning film and lunch combo we have the Tupperware madness of Phranc in Lifetime Guarantee. And of course, not to be missed, are the PlanetOut and What Girls Like shorts programs. And many of the other films have lesbian characters or are just plain enjoyable for audiences of all persuasions.

See the newest and best lesbian movies of the year, catch up with your old friends, make new friends and meet women filmmakers who are joining us from around the world, at this year's Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
