Saturn's Return, Dir. Wenona Byrne, Australia, EAST COAST PREMIERE With his cute Greek boyfriend Dimi and video camera in tow, Barney heads home to Sydney to care for his dying father Dan, an angry pot smoking hippie facing his own mortality. John Greyson, Canada, U.S. PREMIERE A montage of police crotches provides an unusual viewpoint on an anti-globalization demonstration. Another short from the fevered mind of the prolific John Greyson. Journey to Mazatlán, Dir. Isaac Julien, United Kingdom, FLORIDA PREMIERE Isaac Julien (Looking For Langston, Young Soul Rebels) ventures into the American West to find out what's so eternally sexy about cowboys and the David Hockney-like landscapes he has them inhabit. With his trademark blend of handsome men, erotic connection and stream-of-consciousness narrative, Julien collaborates with Venezuelan dancer/choreographer Javier de Frutos to reach stunningly poetic new frontiers. Touch, Dir. Jeremy Podeswa, Canada, EAST COAST PREMIERE Director Jeremy Podeswa (The Five Senses) returns to short filmmaking and some deeply unsettling emotional and erotic terrain. With a dream-like style that mirrors a young boy's troubled perspective, Touch subverts our very definitions of love, in this astonishingly beautiful and disturbing take on childhood sexuality and abuse.
